So this was my 2nd time seeing Lostprophets. The first time was at the Crappy Crawl, I mean Creepy Crawl in 2001 when they opened for Hoobastank and I had no idea who they were, but I still was very impressed. Mississippi Nights was packed, the most I've ever seen. I started about 3rd row left center of the stage. 18 Visions was first up. I must say I was not looking forward to either them or Midtown. So of course when 18 Visions took the stage and I had my first look at them I went "Oh sh*t" 5 guys in goofy black outfits with the black eye make-up and long black hair get up there and from there it only got worse. A half hour set of nothing but screaming, no singing whatsoever, every song sounded exactly the same. The highlight of their set was when the lead singer went to stand on the drummers bass drum on the last song and slipped and went face first into the drum set knocking over everything except the snare, hi-hat and a crash cymbal. What a jackass. Midtown came next and they were better then 18 Visions but still had that crappy punk sound. Next please! Lostprophets, the lights went down and here they came. They opened with "We Still Kill The Old Way", the first track on Start Something. From that they proceeded into "To Hell We Ride". The crowd energy was amazing! They had the whole floor crowd bouncing up and down all night. They proceeded to play "The Fake Sound Of Progress", "Last Train Home", "Start Something", "Burn, Burn" and I think everyone was surprised to hear them play the slow, mellow closing track from Start Something entitled "Sway". Singer Ian Watkins at one point said "So this is like our 2nd or 3rd club appearance in St. Louis, the last time I think was at the Creepy Crawl" and at that point me and the friend i was with and about 2 other people started yelling and Ian said "Oh sweet you guys were at that show? Alright!" Ian made a comment about half way through the set about the St. Louis crowd being one of the very best crowds thus far on their tour. So before the last song Ian said "Well usually at this point in the set we've been doing wall of death but I don't think we need it tonight since you guys are so into it...should we do it anyway?" Everyone cheered so he said "Ok here's what you do, half of you go to the right and half go to the left, make an aisle down the middle of the floor" the crowd abided. He said "Now when this song kicks in both sides run at each other as fast as you can and chaos will ensue, but don't hurt anyone, if someone falls down you help them up ok? This song is called 'Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja'" And everyone went nuts. When the song kicked in both sides ran at each other and the place exploded. At that point I was able to run to about the 2nd row in the center and every time the chorus was sung Ian looked straight at me as I sang along with him. It was probably the most insane show I've ever been to. Only complaint: NO ENCORE!!! If you get the chance to see Lostprophets, do it!!

Well, not everyone can play cliche, corporate rock.

Ballsack! I completely forgot about this show. I like Lostprophets. Too bad they didn't play more stuff off their first album. I thought it was better. The Fake Sound of Progress is my fave song, so that would have redeemed them, though.. :) Good review.

Yeah I wish they wouldve played a couple more from TFSOP. Would've liked to hear "Still Laughing" or "Kobrakai"

Who does this reviewing? How qualified are they in reviewing shows? Your entire review consisted of saying how bad 18 visions was and what Lost Prophets played. First of all, who are you to say that just because eighteen visions is "5 guys in goofy black outfits with the black eye make-up and long black hair," they are automatically bad? Be open minded, and give them a chance. Had you given them a chance, you would have realized that their half hour set didn't consist of "nothing but screaming, no singing whatsoever, every song sounded exactly the same" but rather a diverse mix of songs, sounds, singing, and screaming. All of their new songs have a majority of singing in them. If Mid-town is "just another crappy punk sounding band" what do you listen to? I'd like to know, because some of Lost Prophets stuff is rather punky, and I like lost prophets. If the highlight of your night was having the lead singer of LP look at you while he's singing, and you said nothing on the musical performance of any of the bands, should you really be doing reviews?

The majority of the stuff i listen to is 70s classic rock, when music was music, you had artists that couldactually play their instruments and were good at it. Music today isn't focused on the talent of a band (obviously). That's why there are shit bands like Blink 182, Slipknot and New Found Glory (not to mention all the shitty rap "artists") that are doing so well. You were not at the LP show, the whole 18 Visions set was nothing but screaming. If I want to have someone scream in my face while shitty music plays in the background i'll pay a friend to do it for me and they can do it just as well as that crappy "band" did. You want some musical crtitque on the concert? Here it is. 18 Visions: Noise not music! Midtown: Good vocal harmonies, the music overall was good, some decent soundsing hooks, good melodies, nice riffs just didn't like the vocals. I'm not saying they sucked, I just didn't care for 'em but i'll give 'em credit where credit is due. Lost Prophets: Jamie Oliver can scream like a madman, and he does it well. It's a controlled scream, he does it in key to the songs that the band plays he doesn't just scream his guts out like some people who played that night...if you want more examples of controlled screams check out Pressure 4-5 and System Of A Down. Ian Watkins has a killer voice, did some nice variations on the vocals so it wasn't like listening to the albums verbatim. I guess the song that really impressed me was "Sway". Watching Lee play the main guitar part was incredible. I should say guitar parts because he was hammering on that main rhythm AND playing those high hammer on pull offs that give the song it's ambience. TheCarrie if you'd like to know anything else music wise feel free to email me, I listen to actual music and critique on how it's played. Thanks for your interest.

See in your second review, you actually did critique on the musical performance, which is what should have happened in your first review. Yes, I was at the show, and yes, I listen to real music. I have both of 18 visions cd's, and their newest CD is rather melodic, with minimal screaming. Granted they are a hardcore band, say what you may, but I think they are talented. I wasn't attacking you personally on your musical interest, just questioning the credibility of the review.
