I have been a fan of this group for some time now. I first heard them on the Lost Highway soundtrack that was produced by Trent Reznor. Since that first time I have followed the group throughout their American exposier. Now if you are unaware Rammstein are from Germany and sing in their native tongue rather than trying to sing in english.
But on to the review of their newest album Reise, Reise. On first listen just scanning through the tracks I heard a lot of the great industrial/gothic sound that I have always known to come from Rammstein.
As I got into the album more and actually listened to the songs on my hour drive to work tonight I was far from disappointed from what I expected. A friend of mine that works for my old college radio station gave me the cd cause he didn't like it and he knew that I liked the band.
If you haven't heard the song Amerika (no thats not a typo thats how the germans spell it!) its the one song that stands out the most as the song that rock radio stations are most likely to play, not saying any of the other songs aren't but its probably the most catchiest.
Rammstein also add in very tasteful choirs singing, string arragements, and keyboards that fill out the songs. Its not like random stuff just thrown in there to make it sound cool it actually enhances the songs and makes them even more dark and gothic.
Its hard to just pick a few tracks as stand out tracks because they all are great! But if I had to I would say Mein Teil, Dalai Lama, Moskau, and Keine Lust are the hardest and heaviest. Los is a great track too with the acoustic guitars in place of the electric.
Since they sing in their native language of German the lyrics seem too be even more evil. They could be singing about the benifits of brushing and flossing your teeth and it would still sound evil! Its easy to stay that there aren't any bands in the States that sound anything like them. I am still waiting for a chance to go see them live in concert because of their spectacular stage show that would make Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson stand up and give them props. But I have seem them on tv and if you have seen the movie XXX with Vin Disel thats them in the opening with the fire! I hope with the release of a new album here in the states that it brings them back over either for a spring or summer tour. As of right now on www.Rammstein.com there are no dates for the states but hopefully they will be here soon!

I saw them on the Family Values tour back in like 99 or something. They had a cool stage show with lots of pyrotechnics.
