Bio: Tappuccino is a quintet with a quirk. Specializing in jazz standards with some Latin, blues and original tunes, Tappuccino provides a solid jazz feel with our pianist, bassist and alto saxophone player (okay, we agree, the fact that our sax player doubles on jazz recorder is a bit out of the ordinary). When you get to our percussion section, though, watch out! Rather than offering the same old ho-hum high hat, Tappuccino features both a conga drummer and a rhythm tap dancer. Jazz will never be the same! Audiences love the visual appeal of having a tap dancer on stage, and musicians love the unique sounds and phrasing that comes from rhythm tap. As unusual as it may appear to have a tap dancer acting as a musician, it actually is a tradition dating back to the early days of jazz, when every big band worth its salt traveled with its own tap dancer. Tappuccino is proud not only to invoke that traditional partnership between jazz and tap, but to take it into the twenty-first century with new steps, new rhythms and new presentation. The band members are all well known in the Columbia music scene and beyond, appearing on stages not only in Kansas City, St Louis and Chicago, but in places as far away as England and Italy. Tappuccino features Pack Matthews on keys, Alan Arnold on alto saxophone and jazz recorder, John Markovitz on conga drums and Stacie Strong on taps.

It's about time.
I never went anyway.
I'll miss it. It's something the family and I look forward to.
Too many teenagers running around.
I perform/attend for the music. It's a shame we are losing this local performance opportunity.
